Ingredients
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp Bengal gram flour (besan)
2 tblsp methi leaves
1/4 tsp red chili powder
1 pinch carom seeds (ajwain)
1 pinch cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tblsp oil
Salt to taste
Water/milk as needed
Method
• Mix all the ingredients in a bowl; add water to knead soft dough
• Keep the dough covered for 15 to let it set properly
• Make around 8 equal sized balls of the dough
• Roll the ball into very thin chapatti. Dust the ball with flour if required
• Take a heavy based griddle and roast the rolled khakhra on it till it gets brown marks
• You can also use oil or ghee. If you are using non-stick pan, you don't need oil.
• Let it cool and store in air-tight container.
The best part about khakhra is its long life. You can use it for many days.
