How To Make Masala Khakhra?

Do you love khakhra and want to give khakhra making a try yourself? Do you want to impress your Gujarati friends with the tasty khakhra made by you? It is not just a dish for Gujarati friends; you can take for breakfast. This is also a perfect breakfast for you, if you are a health conscious female and look for a food with low calories.

Ingredients

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1 tsp Bengal gram flour (besan)

2 tblsp methi leaves

1/4 tsp red chili powder

1 pinch carom seeds (ajwain)

1 pinch cumin seeds (jeera)

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1 tblsp oil

Salt to taste

Water/milk as needed

Method

• Mix all the ingredients in a bowl; add water to knead soft dough

• Keep the dough covered for 15 to let it set properly

• Make around 8 equal sized balls of the dough

• Roll the ball into very thin chapatti. Dust the ball with flour if required

• Take a heavy based griddle and roast the rolled khakhra on it till it gets brown marks

• You can also use oil or ghee. If you are using non-stick pan, you don't need oil.

• Let it cool and store in air-tight container.

The best part about khakhra is its long life. You can use it for many days.

Additional Note:

• You can use other flours also like millet, oat etc.

• You can also add a small amount of sugar to make sweet khakhra
